“You shouldn’t get his hopes up,” his mother says the moment they’re alone in the kitchen. “What?” Buck asks, confused. Her face wrinkles. “Christopher. You’re getting his hopes up.” “What? How? Huh?” he places the Turkey back on the stove. She sighs, “By pretending to be his parent. One day you’ll have a family of your own and he will get a stepmother. You can’t always stay in his life like this. You shouldn’t act like a parent with him. It’s unfair to him. You are not his parent.” Buck stares at her. He feels blindsided. He knew she’d have her opinions but didn’t expect this. He’s actually speechless. He also feels tears burn into his eyes.

I...tried to make a meme and got carried away and made A Thing that is like partially unfinished because i spent like 3 hours on it and then got tired.

I think this is mostly scientifically accurate but truth be told, there seems to be relatively little research on succession in regards to lawns specifically (as opposed to like, pastures). I am not exaggerating how bad they are for biodiversity though—recent research has referred to them as "ecological deserts."

like, there's not a single instance within canon where someone goes in for a hug with him and Obi-Wan acts hesitant or unsure about accepting it, which i feel would not be the case if he'd actually not gotten that kind of support during his formative years. plus, i think people have a tendency to discount how much of that comfort would be taking place within the Force, given that Jedi are empaths.
