not a reviewer saying they "added a lesbian" to the count of monte cristo... my girl eugénie has been there since 1844
some arguments about characters nowadays are so funny, especially when it entails characters who are children or have their past shown at some point, because it’s clear that people forget they were also kids once.
take Dabi/Todoroki Touya from MHA, for example.
“i don’t care if he was 8-years-old, he should’ve known better than to be sexist and not to ‘trauma dump’ on his youngest brother.” this argument is a common one i’ve seen so far, here on tumblr and on tik tok.
like. babes. children acting out are the reflection of their parents/guardians. moments that Touya was saying sexist shit as a literal 8-13 year old is a reflection of his father—who Touya had a clear level of obsession on top of the obvious deep desire to be loved and acknowledged.
plus, i understand many of us matured prematurely, and that makes it easier to understand Shouto’s response to abuse more so than Touya, however, we need to remind ourselves that maturing early is not ok and not the case for every child who has gone through abuse. but also, beneath the layer of “maturity” still lies a lost child. you know that better than anyone.
i’m not saying you have to love the little rascal, but maybe focus on the literal murder he committed to feel some sort of vindication at his current predicament instead of his actions as a mentally unstable child lol.
Eri goes on to have a career in music. Despite some encouragement to go into healing with her quirk, she doesn't want to, and instead wants to do something lighthearted that brings people joy
Yaoyorozu actually changed her hero outfit (the one we see in 430 with the covered front) sometime during the winter in her second year at UA. It was originally her winter costume, but she ended up keeping it for all seasons and into adulthood
At some point before graduating UA, Ashido taught Eri how to dance
There is an instagram page dedicated to adorable awkward clips from Shoto's various interviews. He knows about it but doesn't understand what people find appealing about it. Unbeknownst to everyone, the page is run by Kaminari
Kaminari also runs a page dedicated to clips of Bakugo screaming at people. Bakugo knows about the page but doesn't know who runs it, and has ranted to Kaminari about "the damn idiot" who thinks they can mess with him
At some point while Touya was in the hospital, Endeavor went in to visit one day and Shoto was sitting there eating soba while staring at the glass, both brothers in complete silence. When Enji asked what was happening, Touya responded "bonding time. Now get out"
Deku has texted Fuyumi for teaching advice
Bakugo has texted Fuyumi for more recipes
Deku has read the League of Villains book and owns a copy. He feels he owes it to Shigaraki to keep the memory close
Spinner never gets to reunite with Mr Compress but years later received a fan letter from "Mister" that just said "thank you for keeping their memory alive"
Deku is one of those teachers who gets distracted easily. The class knows this, and once got out of a whole test by asking Deku to analyze Mirio's newest special move
Individual members of Class A have come into Deku's class as guest speakers
After Deku gets his super suit, he arranges a training event with Class A where they play villains and his students have to defeat them
Some years down the line, Bakugo becomes a UA teacher. He insists that he teach the same year as Deku because he wants to have their classes compete to see who is the better teacher
I had a dream about a silly filler/omake in the U.A Dorms where most of Class 1-A forgot to turn in a test for grading and they get the idea to sneak into Aizawa's room to slip their papers in the stack. Never mind he'd probably notice if the stack had suddenly tripled in size. Dream logic.
Anyway, the funny thing was that they snuck in while he was sleeping and he woke up immediately, but he was comfortable 'n basking in the sunlight so he faked sleep and just. quietly assessed their skills on stealth and infiltration. grumpy and a little bit amused. definitely didn't want to bother getting up. It was really funny, all the individual ways the students tried to be sneaky 'n using their quirks and such, when you knew Aizawa was already wide awake and silently grading judging them.
Maybe that dream would be funny Dadzawa fic material. Who knows?
touya is a drama queen (/pos), you can’t just fit him in a tiny case
if he had been there he would have stolen the show (as he should). you know that time he made a dramatic bow during the final fight? that.
the only thing that could’ve fit in the epilogue would’ve been seeing him eat soba with shouto and/or reading spinner’s book. but anything related to the Todoroki Family Drama™ would’ve required so much more information. you can’t tell me touya wouldn’t have spent an entire chapter roasting endeavor if he had been given the opportunity
my hot take is the reason we never saw anything of Touya in the epilogue is because anything with Touya would require several pages of explanation, you can't stuff it into a tiny frame.
him dying in the thingamabob? would need room to show the family's reactions and especially Shouto's who if this were the case would have failed to save his brother, Rei's about saving her son's life from being killed by Endeavor only for him to still die, and Natsuo, who was the closest to Touya and hasn't interacted with him at all since learning he had survived the fire.
Touya recovering and outliving yet another pessimistic prognosis for his life expectancy? what would he even do with his life, after the people who were his friends were slaughtered and captured by the oppressors they had fought against, and lost? the only reason he didn't share their fates is his relation to Enji.
him cutting off Endeavor? took Natsuo three pages to do, no way to fit it into a brief montage.
Touya escaping with the League? that's a whole another manga of its own.
he would either use that as a teaching opportunity (like teach his students to not be irresponsible, or how to quickly analyze quirks) or avoid those questions like the PLAGUE
meanwhile aizawa is watching him struggling from afar and refuses to help him, something about “having problem child deal with the consequences of his actions”
i like to imagine that somehow the true events of the hosu incident got leaked to the public causing a lot of controversy for shouto and tenyas hero careers
meanwhile izuku is in his classroom just being asked if stains tongue was really that freaky in person by his students
Professional boxer!Sukuna in his late 30s or early 40s who stubbornly refuses to retire even though he's been warned by everyone that it's time to hang up his gloves.
It wasn't until he suffered a fatal injury during a big match was when he realised that he was finished. He retired and that was the end of the King of Curses' reign on the boxing world.
Retired boxer!Sukuna who realizes that outside of his career, he never had anything going for him. He spend most of his days in his penthouse or hitting the gym. He didn't know what to do with his life anymore.
Retired boxer!Sukuna who, out of boredom, one day decides to step inside a little cafe that had opened across the road from his building. And that's when he stumbles across you. His ex-girlfriend. The last time he saw you was when he broke up with you years ago. Turns out this cafe belonged to you.
(Bullet points from here on out cuz laziness haha...)
The first meeting between you two was tense. Both of you didn't know what to say to each other. Just some stiff "hey" "how have you been" and "you seem well".
Sukuna noticed how much you've grown though. The years have been really kind to you.
You could tell Sukuna's retirement got the best of him. He seemed more quiet... tired and looked utterly lost. You decide to offer him a cup of coffee and a sandwich.
It takes a while but slowly both of you start talking to each other again. Sukuna finds talking to you helps the gapping hole left after his retirement. He visits you more often.
Both of you catch up. You had a full time job before but decided that you wanted to open your own business. Hence, this cafe. You took the risk and now you will never go back. Running your own cafe has been the best decision you've ever made in your life.
Sukuna finds himself smiling as you talked so passionately. Your radiance and positivity motivates him to find something for himself.
He also feels himself drawn to you too. He felt a pang of longing whenever you smiled at him or greeted him. He was starting to realise that he had been an absolute idiot to take you for granted.
He does eventually find something to do. He becomes a boxing instructor at the gym he frequents. Sure he doesn't need the job since he had all the money in the world but he finds teaching young people who are passionate about the sport very fulfilling.
He also makes time for you now. Something he he had failed to do when you two were dating.
Sometimes he helps you out at the cafe, lifting any heavy boxes or stacking supplies or anything else you need.
And you start to notice how much he's changed too. The old Sukuna would think helping you out would be a waste of time. But here he was, standing behind the counter taking orders. Although his signature scowl and grumpy nature was still there.
After a while, you two decide to give a second chance to dating.
And both of you are rusty as hell to the dating scene. You had been too busy with establishing your business and he with his boxing career.
"It's okay. We'll figure it out together." And eventually you both do :)
izuku and ochaco are BOTH going to wake up in the middle of the night with their head in their hands
