so weird to me that babies can laugh. you are 5 months old and you are cackling as if you already have evil machinations a-brewing within your fragile skull.

very good analysis and i am honored you spent so long on it!
My critique with season-3 Rapunzel is that Cass hurting Eugene in “Cassandra’s Revenge” should have been the last straw, in my opinion. Or, if not that, then when she took over Corona. Or, if not that, then when she stole the Sundrop from Rapunzel.
It would have served both characters so well to have Rapunzel give up on Cass, even temporarily, so that Cass could realize that this is having consequences she doesn’t want. And so Rapunzel can display that polarizing mentality we’ve come to expect from her. And so little kids and tweens— and even teenagers and adults— watching this don’t walk away with the lesson that the person who’s hurting you has their better self “still in there”, and you just have to try hard enough to save them. That’s a thing I’ve heard from parents who stopped letting their kids watch after the third season.
just for clarification:
disliking parts of the way rapunzel’s character was handled in the show =/= disliking her.
movie!rapunzel means a lot to me personally, and i absolutely adore some aspects of her character in the show. i think she’s loving, creative, funny, intelligent, and she tries her best to help the people around her.
if i have a critique with her in the show, it’s because i believe that isn’t how she’d behave as someone who went through the events of the movie. or maybe i look at how she acts for one episode of the show, compare it to the foundation they’ve established in an earlier episode, and find that they contrast one another. my criticisms are for the inconsistent or out-of-character writing, not for rapunzel herself. i understand she has flaws; i just wish they were addressed properly and that she didn’t always have to be in the right.

star princess nuru headcannons<3
i think you mean nuru my QUEEN. she’d probably be my favorite disney princess if i actually got to see her story/read a really good fic of her pov. as it stands, movie-rapunzel has the top spot and nuru is a close second because of… just everything about her.
-she likes nighttime better than daytime, not just because she’s an astronomer, but because it feels like the weight of responsibility is lighter once people aren’t constantly demanding things of her.
-mildly dysgraphic. (the math-dyslexia thing i also have.) nobody’s figured it out, and she just thinks she’s very bad at math, so she doesn’t tell anyone. the second some sort of number-involving problem is introduced, she’s already using any of her mental tricks to find the solution before anyone can even turn to her.
-the curse upon her kingdom guaranteed that the royals would stay alive to watch their subjects suffer, so nuru has survivor’s guilt.
-extremely good at all things medical due to caring for her citizens from a far-too-young age.
-did not ship varigo until she began to trust and like hugo. she wants only the best for varian.
-became friends with hugo by spitefully buying something because it made him uncomfortable to have money spent on him, only for him to retaliate by stealing a very extravagant necklace for her, until they were both holding armfuls of stuff they didn’t need and aggressively pushing them at each other. they ended up returning them, then glanced at each other and mutually decided that they’d tolerate each other now.
-asexual lesbian. (i’m so sorry guys. i don’t ship her with amber. we don’t know anything about amber, and donella is already in love with ulla, so we’ve got so much of people pining for varian and his family members. plus i think it’s cruel for varian to have a cousin named amber in the first place. whose idea was that. ((not hating on anyone who ships them; i just personally don’t see the appeal.)))
-she’s very good at scathing remarks disguised by politeness. she’d be great on bbc sherlock.
-she started out very reserved and stoic, but gradually came out of her shell around the boys, getting to the point where varian accidentally said “my balls” instead of “my chemical formulas/my orbs/literally anything else” and nuru laughed hysterically for three minutes straight. varian gave her the silent treatment for a while after this.
-she makes her own star maps. like, dotting out where each one is in the sky, then tracing her own constellations depending on her mood. it’s her own form of art.
VERY TRUE. and she does genuinely care about people So Much, but she has this really interesting mindset about everyone. It’s not black-and-white, necessarily, but once she perceives that someone has betrayed her (cough cough Gothel), she distances herself from them. She puts a wall up. Please ignore season 3.
That actually makes her response to Varian stealing the sundrop flower very realistic for her (especially since he said a very triggering “I used you.”)
Before that, during the months after the storm, I headcanon that along with the decision-making paralysis she was facing, she had to deal with taking care of her recovering parents and handling a lot of inter-kingdom negotiations. Those things were important and for the good of the many, and she could convince herself to put the guilt out of her mind until she received the note from Varian.
I dunno. It just seems like a good explanation that still gives Rapunzel some culpability instead of never addressing that situation at all.

If I was desperate for kudos I would not be out here posting villain ships, minor character rarepairs, and other deeply unpopular ships.
I know how to write popular fic. I know how to farm kudos. That's not what I'm here for.
"Readers need to remember that authors don't know a reader liked their fic unless the reader tells them by leaving a kudos or a comment" does not mean "waahhh waahhh I need attention!"
It means "even if writers write purely for themselves, if you don't bother to interact with writers when you do enjoy their work, they might stop posting and just keep their work to themselves."
"If you enjoy a work you should kudos or comment" is not aimed at the people who aren't reading the fanfiction in question.
"If you enjoy a work you should kudos or comment" is not aimed at the people who did not enjoy the fanfiction in question.
"If you enjoy a work you should kudos or comment" is aimed at people who read a fanfiction, enjoyed it, and then didn't bother to even do the bare minimum to share their excitement about it with the work's creator, even though that excitement is literally the only thing they get in return for posting their work.
Fanfiction authors write because they enjoy writing. They post because they want to form a connection with the people who enjoyed their work.
This is not an attempt to scold anyone, I literally don't care if I get kudos or not. It's simply an attempt to remind people that fanfiction is a community, and fan authors can't read your mind.
I'm back again after like no time at all anyways Rapunzel hcs?
rapunzel <3
-will cry if she sees a tiny and cute enough baby animal. will cry hard enough to worry eugene.
-sometimes has a sleepover in eugene’s room when she has a nightmare (this was before eugene proposed & during the time when frederic would have been extremely against this.) she used to send pascal to eugene, who would sneak into her room, but then rapunzel realized how much worse it’d be for him if he got caught, so now she goes to his. even after they’re married, they have their own rooms, because they like having their space, but they both end up sleeping in one bed, most nights.
-gets yellow-painted tattoos later on. sunflowers and swirls on her shoulders.
-upon seeing quirin in the amber, her mind flashed to gothel’s death, and she felt responsible.
-has picked eugene up before and will do so again at the slightest excuse. they both love it.
-felt guilty for befriending stalyan after eugene filled her in on some details of his & stalyan’s past.
-once she & varian are on more comfortable ground, she makes a point to teasingly annoy him sometimes. he usually ends up pranking her in return. one time, he put salt, instead of sugar, in a cupcake he gave her, and rapunzel proclaimed that that was the worst thing he’d ever done. they both stared at each other for a second before cackling at themselves. (well, varian did a bit more cackling, while rapunzel had a regular sane laugh.)
-spars with cass & the brotherhood sometimes. she doesn’t want to hurt them, but once she gets in the self-defense zone, she can hold her ground very well.
-automatically tries to heal people who’ve gotten hurt somehow and has to work to calm herself when she can’t.
-the ride to the castle to meet her parents for the first time was awful. rapunzel was in shock and kept crying as she continuously realized that gothel was gone, and she almost couldn’t let go of eugene because he’d died right in front of her.
-still has a hard time believing that things can be okay even if everyone isn’t perfectly happy.
-struggles with disassociation and uses painting to ground herself.
-hates lettuce. specifically rapunzel lettuce. i think i’m funny.
-was the officiator at stan and pete’s wedding. was crying so hard with joy that she could barely get the words out. she thinks weddings are the most beautiful thing on earth when nobody is suffering from spider venom or being forced into a marriage.
-has scared several members of nobility, and scares pretty much everyone, when she gets angry. (this is practically canon.)

hey when you make posts, i just want you to know, thou/thee/thy/thine/ye are like he/you(object)/your/yours/you(subject) okay? "thou art wearing shoes," "i will wear shoes for thee," okay?
you say thine if the next word starts with a vowel and thy if the next word starts with a consonant and they both mean "your" so "thine own shoes," "thy shoes," okay?
and ye means you and refers to the subject of a sentence, "ye members of the brotherhood of shoes," okay? you need this information to create better knight yaoi. i'm personally more interested in nun yuri but we are a community
