I have been on a massive G.I. Joe kick this weekend, so here's a "redesign" of everyone's favorite wannabe overlord. His concept is already pretty much perfect, I just wanted to combine some of my favorite aspects from different designs into one; I'm thinking about having my own version of the G.I. Joe world since my favorite versions of the characters are all over the place. Anyways, love this guy and his stupid squeaky voice. I included the sword from Resolute + some glass needles full of algesic venom- the perfect weapon for him. Just jab someone and leave them to scream while you make a tactical retreat.
Greetings bugs and worms!
This comic is a little different than what I usually do but I worked real hard on it—Maybe I'll make more infographic stuff in the future this ended up being fun. Hope you learned something new :)
If you are still curious and want to learn more about OCD, you can visit the International OCD Foundation's website. I also recommend this amazing TED ED video "Starving The Monster", which was my first introduction to the disorder and this video by John Green about his own experience with OCD.
The IOCDF's website can also help you find support groups, therapy, and has lots of online guides and resources as well if you or a loved one is struggling with the disorder. It is very comprehensive!
Reblog to teach your followers about OCD
(But also not reblogging doesn't make you evil, silly goose)
what if your doppelgänger wasn’t evil it was just a person. what if your doppelgänger wasn’t trying to replace you it was just trying to learn to be a person and you were the best model it had. what if your doppelgänger looked at you with your eyes and said with your voice that it just wanted to be loved. what then.
As a character design nerd this piqued my interest, so:
Nero and skulls! Also, while we’re at it, bees/hive insects (lots to be found there symbolically I think, considering they’re almost entirely mothers and the males don’t do much… what happens when a man has to substitute, in a way? Hard to explain, but there’s something there.)
Anastasia with both ice and fire— I like to think of fire being associated with her more reckless younger self and ice being more of her new-age Glasshouse aesthetic.
Cypher and the ocean, both through his ship and it’s name— it’s a nice contrast to Nero and his volcano.
Number One and space: Further distance makes it easier to hurt others without regret. Also, being far from people who could have originally threatened him… but also being stranded from help when Overlord took over.
This one might just be my headcanons talking, but Laura and games (I refuse to see book 2 as anything other than Laura playing an extended version of Battleship with Cypher.) Also nature/plants.
Animus and viruses.
Shelby and cats.
Darkdoom and marine life or prehistoric animals (Megalodon, and Dreadnoughtus is a sauropod genus.)
Zero and lab equipment + memory.
Anna and angels.
The Malpense family complex and symbiosis, specifically:
Otto/HIVEmind = Mutualism (Both parties benefit.)
Overlord/Animus = Obligate parasitism (cannot survive without host)
Zero/Anna = Predation (One gains, one loses, and usually loses fatally.)
What's some random things associated with the H.I.V.E. characters that aren't immediately obvious?
E.g. Nero and fire trucks
spin this wheel of all the pokemon. you now have to fight this pokemon. just you and it, bare-knuckle
Still thinking about the Deer in the Headlights song, such a cute, late 2000s vibe, it reminds me of The Ready Set’s Love Like Woe, or The Click Five’s Just The Girl. Idk if you’ve heard those but they are now marilliam to me as well 💗
I dig that Bleeding White song too, esp that opening bass line 🤘
You just took me back with Love Like Woe- I loved that one when I was younger! The world needs more cute shippy songs like that these days!
Ooh, I just discovered your blog. Always glad to discover another H.I.V.E. fan :) The series is my favorite, but I can't help but cringe at the fact that the core four have been at H.I.V.E. for six years and haven't aged a single year
Hi! The same to you, seeing other H.I.V.E. fans out in the wild is a delight!
(No idea if you’ve finished the series, so spoilers below, fyi!)
Yeah, I think it’s a common fandom belief that they do age like normal school kids and graduate at 18. There’s no way Otto meets his dad, gets possessed (multiple times), and loses his girlfriend in one year, give the kid a breather at least! I’ve heard some say it had to do with the publishing company, but who knows? Common sense says they’re ready for college when they get out.
enough ‘does otto 2.0 still have the supercomputer microchip’ discourse. do you think otto managed to forgive hivemind for bringing him back in the first place. do you think he woke up angry. do you think he woke up scared. a boy born with his fate already decided and even in death he couldn’t have his autonomy respected. one minute you’re blowing yourself up to save the world and the next minute you’re alive and naked in a body that looks like your old one but just isn’t, a body that so easily could’ve been another version of you, one with its own consciousness, one that might have been born hating you, one you and your memories replaced. wouldn’t that just be like killing a brother. wouldn’t that fuck you up forever.
Trying to curb burnout and real bad depression by learning a new medium, so I got a mini sketchbook and will fill it with dinosaur sketches in gouache.
Here's a Sinosauropteryx taking a little nap on the forest floor on a bed of moss and using his long tail as a pillow.
There are a lot of issues with this but that's what practice is for, yeah? Gonna stick with it. Painting a Brachiosaurus later.
