I've been thinking again about the meaning of Shouto's and Touya's birthdays. What if Shouto's birthday is 111 because it's like the winning combo on a slot machine (getting three ones is a particularly good sign in light of Endeavor's aim to raise a son to be No 1) and Touya's birthday is 118 because he's only "almost perfect"?
And then I did some further research, and sure enough, the in the 18 in Touya's birthday the kanji for 1: 一 (ichi) and 8: 八 (hachi) can be found in the following Japanese gambling phrase:
一か八か = ichi ka bachi ka, “one or nothing”, or literally “one or punishment” - i.e.: a high risk gamble or something like "go for broke".
As in the phrase:
一いちか八ばちかやってみよう。
Ichikabachika yatte miyō.
I’ll take my chances.
So now I'm 99% convinced that Shouto's and Touya's birthdays are a refence to Endeavor gambling with the kids as if they were prizes in a pachinko slot machines / was playing child gacha?
(Also - Hori's sick sense of humour)
breakup was so bad it was broadcasted on national television
i don't really see how people call or think dabi lazy of all things when he's spent the last ten years of his life keeping his walking corpse alive through obsession and virulent hatred, meticulously planning out his revenge, all the while honing his quirk, even when his skin withered and charred away from his body.
or the fact that, before that, he kept repeatedly burning himself on his own flames when he secretly went off to train as a child without pause or care for his well-being in order to not be seen as defective and worthless as he felt and was made to feel but instead as someone who could achieve the same toxic dream that was ripped away from him to be peddled to shouto.
like ... "i can't wait to see that miserable expression on his face. all i've been waiting for ... it's taken so much to get this far." — touya.
let's not forget the fact that he ... canonly kills those that he deems worthless because they live day to day without ambition when he scouts for recruits.
and if i really, really want to reach, we also have the smash!! dabi who worked his little ass off on that island. 😭
not to mention he gets mad when tomura isn't doing anything to help.
tl;dr — dabi's a hard worker. he has been since he was a kid for the wrong reasons, and that has continued as an adult. but he is still a hard worker, an over-achiever.
i could see him taking breaks when absolutely needed, but those would be short-lived and fleeting at best. much of his life has been.
day 5 of daily wacom art so i get used to it
do you think kurogiri sees the back of dabi (black hair), toga (blonde hair) and shigarakis heads (blue hair) together and part of him is reminded of when he was with aizawa and yamada
might draw this later
keigo just wanted to see his man flaunting like a villain again. sorry (bonus + dialogue under the cut)
he’s just so flamboyant how does anyone take him seriously
