My battery is low...
Today, a collection of cameras and steel was pronounced dead. She sang to celebrate herself, survived a marathon of miles, shared and showed her redburned hollow home. We gave her iron claws to drag along a planet's spine and when, one morning, the sensors would not wake, we shouted out a thousandfold: 'Are you okay?'
To no response.
She had a name. Between hurricanes and stars, we tend to love what kills or dies, ripping up our teddybears in Sunday morning rooms till stuffing snows and tickles throats, brings water to our eyes.
Stuck on an arbitrary globe, we compose 'Space Oddity'. Dream of escape, at least embrace the ache of rust she cannot feel. There is both humor and humanity in loss.
She might be us. Cross-winded, heading straight into the dust. We weave the trails into a 'why', frantic scramble metaphors, and with our scraped up hands, mold her dying code into a poem.

Kalliope hands covered in paint, dungarees, sitting cross-legged, pencil tucked behind an ear, teasing smile, delicate shoulders, collarbones, lakes, romantic paintings, fingers in soil, bobbed hair, stretching your arm from the window of a driving car, picnic baskets, footsteps left in sand
Josepe scraps of paper, oil-paintings leather notebooks, rolled up sleeves, lost pages, leaning against tables/walls, crossed arms, family pictures, yellowed meadows, mountains seen from above, learning something new, inside jokes, bearhugs, broken marble statues
Paco skateboards, sunburnt shoulders, dirt under fingernails, running against the wind, smiley faces, fireworks, screaming from a mountaintop, toothy grins, heat, trembling hands, throwing your arm over a shoulder, trespassing, scratches, drawing on tables
Mikel soft voices, birds, cast down eyes, freckles on tanned skin, skipping stones, lists, a dog licking your nose, drawn up knees, ropes, overgrown walls, looking through a keyhole, early mornings, holding hands, old toys, licking quick to catch the melting ice-cream, swings
Alba sunflowers, standing akimbo, loud voices, balancing on a cliffside, brooks, brand new clothing, thistles, writing in books, being first in line, sunglasses, believing in the supernatural, braids, stubborn silence, pressing your hand against the window, medaillons
Dores polaroid pictures, feminist texts, dog-ears, combat boots and pink skirts, wispy hair, do-it-yourself, standing wide-legged, myths, holding the hem of a shirt, lightning, buzzing ventilators, biting your nails, forgetting pot plants, daydreaming, Shakespeare quotes, sarcasm
Imanol bare feet, dusk, ramshackle piles of books, cats, waltzing, talking to yourself, faltering record players, antique shops, corduroy, answering questions, fingerprints, collecting gifts, straying from your point in the middle of a sentence, pinecones, memories, rising early
HI! can you tell me about your fave oc? or first oc, or both? Maybe 1,3 and 14 for the questions.
Thanks so much for the questions! (I amgetting around to your moodboard as soon as I got my other laptopback :')) I will assume Cultor was my first real OC, becauseit's a little unclear when this all started, but all the others Iremember where either very vague or just me with a different name. Ican hardly choose a favorite OC, so I will just take the maincharacter of my currect WIP (who I do love, so there's that) ^^. 1.What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering(name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?First OC: I think thefirst thing I considered about Cultor was his race. He's a characterfrom a fantasy, and I made up a population group that was sort ofmaginalized. They consisted of people that were 'mixed': half humanand half elf, one/fifth troll and three quarters dwarf, that sort ofthing. For this story I made up a specific mythical being, which wascalled will-o'-the-wisp but was somethingnot-quite-feary-not-quite-human. His father was a human, his mothersuch a will-o'-the-wisp. Favorite OC: The first thing I found out about Tungsten was his dislike towards leaving stuff behind. His father works in a antique store and hegrew up surrounded by things that had once been precious, but werenow broken, forgotten and gathering dust. He would rather live a lifeon the outskirts of society, leaving no traces.
2. How did you choose their name?First OC: Because I was eleven andstill believed all things have meaning, I looked up Latin words withtranslations that fitted Cultor as a person. If I remember correctly, his name means 'friend'. Favorite OC: Funny thing, becausethis whole story started with Tungsten's name and the names of histo-be friends. Sometime in the middle of high-school, I found this list in my chemistry book with theEnglish names of the first discovered elements. I am Dutch, so I didnot know these English names, and they struck me as quite beautiful. For some reason I thought they would make amazing stage names for agroup of traveling artists; the idea stuck, and here we are. 14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep inmind while working with your OC, what would those things be?FirstOC: Well, Cultor's father was the badguy (I was such an originalchild *ahum*), so his mental struggle about fighting his own dad waspretty important. The other would be his protective nature; he'sabout sixteen in the story, but he thinks himself quite an adult andhe is convinced he has to look out for everyone. Favorite OC:Tungsten's main goal is to find his place between the band of artistshe has just joined, so most of his actions are motivated by that.Further I think it's important to know that though he's quiet andshy, this never stops him from doing what he wants to do, tremblinghands and all. Thanks so much again!

‘Cause sometimes the stories of how OCs come to be are just as interesting as the OCs, themselves. Tell me how your virtual kids came into the world.
What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?
Did you design them with any other characters/OCs from their universe in mind?
How did you choose their name?
In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?
Is there any significance behind their hair color?
Is there any significance behind their eye color?
Is there any significance behind their height?
What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?
Are they based off of you, in some way?
If they have an LI, how much of their character is tailored to be compatible to that person?
Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?
What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?
How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?
If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?
What is something about your OC can make you laugh?
What is something about your OC can make you cry?
Is there some element you regret adding to your OC or their story?
What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC?
What is your favorite fact about your OC?
Hey everybody! Just a little update. I am going abroad for a week, but afterwards I plan on publishing some more moodboards (sorry for the long wait), answering messeges and tags, and finishing up the page about my OC’s. The last couples of weeks have rushed by me, but I look forward to getting back here!

I once wrote a fairytale where a girl lived on the border between two realms, and everytime she fucked something up, two princes came running down to save her. After about sixteen times, the princes decided to teach her how to fend for herself. Long story short, the princes fell in love with eachother and the girl got a sword. I feel this was some quality writing from 15 yo me.
Write me a story where the two guys in the love triangle give up on the girl and date each other.
This blog will combine three things I love dearly: writing, talking about writing, and aesthetics. So if you have an amazing OC for which you crave an aesthetic moodboard or Instagram page - tell me all about them, and I will make you one! After all, every writer needs fanart.
