okay we’re hard workers, we love keeping the house clean and tidy, we love making sure everyone eat healthy and abundantly, we… we’re careless about our health sometimes

let’s say the previous day you were retrieving the laundry from the garden and it was pretty cold outside, despite the sun

as i said, you were more focused on the tasks at hand than taking care of yourself so it was pretty obvious you would end up having a fever, coughing every moment and feeling dizzy.

now, you were grateful to be working for tengen and his wives

they were always kind and treated you like you were truly part of the family. uzui frequently asked you if you needed something for yourself and if you ever wish to take a day for yourself you were free to do so

you knew you were lucky, and you didn’t even noticed you were so fond of them at first. you felt safe and at ease when they were around you, you treasured the moments spent together, they stated multiple times that they all adored you and it filled your heart

you loved them, but you thought that they were already… complete. they only needed you to take care of the house and do the things they couldn’t because of their missions…

that day, you got up, moving around slower than usual, and got ready for the day. you went to make breakfast, wearing a mask and washing your hands almost every five minutes. you didn’t wanted them to get sick too. once you finished preparing the food, you went on with the other errands and you took note to go grocery shopping later.

you were cleaning the porch when you started coughing heavily and fell on your knees, feeling exhausted due to the fever. suma noticed you and appeared by your side, helping you getting up “you’re burning hot!” she noticed with worry. “tengen-sama!” she called for uzui and you quickly came to your senses, trying to stand up by yourself.

“i’m okay… don’t worry,” you gently pushed suma away, nervously going back to cleaning. you couldn’t stand the idea of getting sick and to stay in bed, you didn’t wanted ‘em to worry about you.

“what’s going on?” hinatsuru appeared, followed by tengen and a worried makio. “y/n has a fever!” suma cried, pointing at you. “t-that’s not—” you started coughing again. you felt your head spinning and feared you were about to throw up.

hinatsuru grabbed your arms, despite your protests, and shushed you. “you need to lay down, or it’ll get worse,” she gently explained, walking you to your bedroom. “but...” you tried to fight her but you lost your balance and before you could hit the ground, tengen was quick to catch you and pick you up. “let’s get you to bed, sweetheart.”

they all took care of you, tengen even sent makio to retrieve some medicine from shinobu. suma was so worried she fought back tears every now and then, while hina made sure you didn’t feel cold and gently caressed your hand.

having all the four of them around, taking care of you and your needs, hoping the temperature would get back to normal and that you would feel better soon, made you realise that they weren’t worried about you not working but about your health

suma begged on the verge of tears to sleep beside you, in case you needed something during the night

makio scolded you properly when you started feeling better, of course. “that was so dumb of you! working despite feeling so sick!”

hinatsuru cooked for you, and repeated frequently that warm food would help you feel better

tengen was worried about you and made you promise to not act like that again. “i don’t want you to overwork yourself and neglect your health.”

suma even hugged you once you recovered completely and cried because of happiness [i love her sm you have no idea 🥹]

they truly cared about you and you felt your chest warmer at the thought. you felt loved… and realised that maybe they weren’t keeping you around just for the sake of a clean house

looking back, that's usually what people would say about the relation ship between the two.

when sero broke his arms when his tape was snapped by a villain on a mission, you where the one holding his things, feeding him, writing for him, all of the above.

when he was failing class, and you where acing everything without fail, you where helping him, even before you guys where official.

when denki made a move on you when you and hanta hadn't told everyone when you where finally dating, you laughed, said fat chance and ended up walking away with hanta when he slipped out of the group with you.

to be fair, everyone did catch on pretty quick after that incident.

when it was your turn for your arms to be broken. "ironic isn't it?" when it was hanta's turn to be doing all the things you did for him.

when hanta asked katsuki for his blessing, there was no hesitation from katsuki because as annoying as he found him, he knew he made you happy, and was the one for you. (katsuki took you in when you where kids and cared for you through out your life, even when your parents where killed.)

when he took you on a trip that you thinking like those "is he proposing or" videos. flew out your friends and family. it was a walk on the beach and he had stopped you, took the blindfold he made you where off, and you saw a walkway of candles, roses, and the man of your dreams on one knee, in front of you.

when katsuki ended up being the one to walk you down the isle, being the closest thing you had ever had to a brother, tears of joy streamed down his face, seeing what he was spending the rest of his life with.

denki knows he's really fucked up when even bakugo tells him off about it.

he knows he's been an idiot. who just leaves their date at the restaurant without telling them he wasn't coming?

it had slipped his mind. it really did, but when he went to text you about it, he found his messages turning green. there's a heavy feeling in his heart when he realises that you've blocked him.

he tries to play it off in front of his friends. he always said he'd mess up eventually, so what did you expect? he wasn't known around the school as boyfriend material, so this really shouldn't have come as a surprise.

none of his friends buy it. denki keeps up the pretence anyway.

until he sees you coming back to the dorms with todoroki. it's just to two of you, laughing and chatting as you bid each other goodnight and disappear into your dorms.

he could feel the exact moment, after the door to your dorm shut, that his friends' heads turn to look at him.

it's hard to pretend he doesn't care.

a week goes by of you hanging out with todoroki.

denki can't stand it.

he can't stand knowing it was his fault. that he wants you to hang out with him, but it's his fault you're not talking to him. you haven't talked to him in a week.

he can't help but see the way you laugh at todoroki's jokes instead of his.

the way his stomach drops when he sees that restaurant down the street.

the way he sees something you would find hilarious on the internet, but he can't send it to you.

it kills him.

his final bit of resolve snaps as he makes his way to your dorm room.

he knows he shouldn't, but his heart betrays his brain as he knocks, three times, on the door he knows you're behind.

"who is it?" your voice makes the knot in his stomach tighten. god, he's missed you.

"it's me."

denki can't being himself to say more.

there's a pause. all movement from inside your dorm ceases. denki holds his breath.

"...kaminari?" your voice is quiet. like you're unsure, and a little scared.

denki's heart clenches at the sound of his last name. suddenly, all bravado he had mustered up vanishes.

"yeah. can i come in?"

you open the door slightly.

denki's shoulders sag in relief, but he doesn't miss the way your eyes are guarded, wary of his presence in your dorm.

the inside of your dorm is exactly the same as he remembers, except the framed photo of the two of you was gone.

denki tries his best to ignore it.

"um, so... i wanted to say i'm sorry."

you scoff. "a bit too late for that, huh?"

denki mentally kicks himself.

"please," he tries again. "hear me out. i'm not above begging."

you cross your arms, but your lack of protest is enough for denki to keep going.

"i'm so, so sorry. i didn't mean to leave you at the restaurant, i swear. i just got caught up at training and i completely forgot to tell you. i even got flowers for you." he holds them out, and you can see that they're slightly wilted. "i know they look pretty shit right now, but that's because i picked them up last week."

one look at your face tells him you're not convinced.

"this week... it's been hell. i got the time and space i thought i wanted, but it's not what i needed. there's nothing i regret more than not spending more time with you. i was out of control, and i'm sorry i let you down."

you've never seen denki so mature before.

it's almost impressive.

"i guess i learned- but i already knew this- that i'm better with you. and i miss you so much. i'm so sorry, y/n. i'll never stop trying to find ways to make it up to you, if you'll let me."

there are tears pricking in your eyes. "denki..."

denki's eyes light up. he hates the spark of hope growing in him.

"i tried so hard to forget you. to move on. but... you're like a habit i can't break." you confess.

denki smiles, for the first time in a week. "then i never want to break this habit."
