This is why he asks for dinner. Someone feed him
People: Leon is an ass man!
Other people: Wrong, he’s a chest type of guy!
Me turning on my megaphone: That man is a foodie. If you want to grab his attention, you feed his heart through his stomach.
Somebody feed that man, he deserves a nice home cooked meal as if somebody’s beloved grandma was in the kitchen for Thanksgiving that night. A nice slow cooked roast beef with potatoes, some greens on the side, mac n cheese, hell give him a pan of cornbread I know he’d love it. You feed him, he’ll feed you, that’s the type of guy he is.

A/n: Hello, and welcome to my first multi-part fic here on tumblr! I’m gonna do my best to make this as enjoyable as possible, but please bear with me as I have never written anything like this before! Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoy! Also, fair warning, this will not be entirely canon. *Yes, the switch between ‘his/him/it/its/etc.’ is 100% intentional. Summary: ’“The fuck is that thing doing here?” Hank grumbled, causing you to turn around. An Android walked into the office, scanning the area for someone. The android turned it’s head as it approached the two of you,
“Are you Lieutenant Anderson?” Your uncle sighed, annoyed. “Yeah, and what the fuck’s it to ya?” He retorted. “My name is Connor. I’m the Android sent by Cyberlife." ‘ ~ Hank Anderson being your uncle came with a lot of positives and negatives. You had to deal with people always insulting him when no one knew what had happened to make your uncle the way he was, but, he loved you like his own child. He always talked positively, even when you were being a little shit which is why it was surprising but also not surprising when he got you a job in his city’s police force. One day an android is sent to assist your uncle with android deviancy related crimes, replacing you. As angry as it makes you, you can tell your uncle doesn’t like the Android either. When he convinces your captain to let the three of you stick together, what will happen? Chapter One
You yawned tiredly, sipping your coffee as you pushed open the door of the police station with your hip. You greeted everyone cheerfully, walking to your desk. You placed your coffee on your desk, then on your uncle’s. "Rise and shine, Uncle Hank!” You said obnoxiously, startling a sleeping Hank. With a choke and sputter, your now awake uncle cursed at you.
“The fuck ya doin’, Y/n?! Can’t get a damn break from you, ya little shit…” He complained, shaking his head. His eyes trailed to the cup of coffee now sitting on his desk, “For me?” He asked, picking up the cup as he sniffed it. You rolled your eyes, “No, it’s for Reed.” You spoke a little louder than you’d expected to and Reed’s head perked up in your direction. Before he could open his mouth, Hank cut him off. “Still not a chance, Shitbrain.” Hearing his insult, you nearly spit out the coffee in your mouth.
“Shitbrain?! That’s a new one!” You laughed after swallowing the coffee. The man simply shrugged and spoke, “Seemed right.” Hank gave you a lopsided smile. You could almost feel the disappointment from Reed all the way across the office. However, Hank’s smile was immediately wiped off his face when he looked past you.
“The fuck is that thing doing here?” he grumbled, causing you to turn around. A tall man had walked into the office, scanning the area for something or someone. Upon finding what he was looking for, he walked to where you were standing next to Hank. Upon first glance, you noticed how attractive he was. He adjusted his tie and completely ignored you, annoying you quite a bit. “Are you Lieutenant Anderson?” Hank sighed, annoyed. “Yeah, and what the fuck’s it to ya?” He retorted. You scanned the individual once again, anger and disgust filling you. It was a fucking. android.
Your face scrunched up as it introduced itself. “My name is Connor. I’m the Android sent by Cyberlife.” “Oh Jesus Christ.” You and your uncle spoke in unison. If you hadn’t been so annoyed, you both would have laughed at that. The android began to speak again, “I was sent by Cyberlife to be your partner in Android Deviancy cases.” It explained, and though you weren’t impressed you decided to humor it. “My model, RK800, was designed specifically to help with police investigations.” You raised a brow and finally decided to speak up.
“Well not burst your bubble, android , but I am his partner.” You said venomously. The android scanned you and you hated it. “You’re Detective L/n.” It began, causing you to scowl. “Yeah.” You agreed, urging it to continue. “You’ve been staying with your Uncle Hank since your parents died. I am sorry for your loss.” You almost lost your grip on the coffee cup you were holding and Hank noticed, “Get on with it, already!” He almost yelled at it. The LED light on the side of his head began to flash yellow and it seemed he took a mental note of sorts. It returned to blue before he began speaking again. “I do not mean to…how do humans say it…” Once again, his LED circled a dark yellow. “ 'Burst your bubble’, but I am replacing you as Lieutenant Anderson’s partner.”
~
Bursting into Captain Fowler’s office with your Uncle and Connor in tow, your eyes were wild with rage. He turned around to face you and he let out a small hum of understanding. “So, the android’s here…” he said calmly. You took a breath to calm your voice, the anger still never leaving your eyes. You’d always been the more level-headed out of you and your uncle. “Yeah…Yeah, it’s here…What’s this about it replacing me?!” You accidentally shouted at the Captain, earning a glare from Uncle Hank. You murmured an apology under your breath, more focused on potentially being replaced by a robot.
Your Captain stood from his desk and walked around it, sitting on the edge as he folded his hands in his lap. “I’m sorry, Y/n. It’s out of my hands, Cyberlife directly has told me that the two of them have to work together.” Your eyes widened, “Are you fucking serious…?” You breathed out, shocked. Fowler nodded, “I’m really sorry, Y/n. I wish I could do more but I have to follow orders.” You were speechless with anger. You threw your hands up in the air and let them rest in your hair. “So what do I do now?” You asked no one in particular, trying to wrap your mind around the news. “The best I could do for you is put you on desk duty for their cases. Do you still want to be involved?” Fowler asked you.
Turning back to him you held your head in your hands, closing your eyes as a headache began to grow in your temples. “Yeah, yeah…Fine, sure. Whatever. Thank you Captain.” You trailed off, rubbing your temples. Leaving the Captain’s office, you went and sat at your desk, seeing the files start to pop up on your desk. You reached into your desk drawer and pulled out painkillers, taking them for your now throbbing migraine. Today couldn’t get any worse, or so you thought. You thought wrong, Gavin sauntered up to your desk, “Aw, did the little baby get kicked to the curb for an android?” He teased, “I guess we’ll be spending more and more time together than, honey.”
You groaned loudly, “Gavin, for once in your fucking life, shut the fuck up!” You stood now, both fists clenched at your sides. You heard someone clear their throat and you looked over to see an angry Hank and confused Android. Gavin didn’t recognize the look, but you did and smiled to yourself before crossing your arms in front of your chest. “You heard ‘em, Reed.” Hank spoke lowly, shooting daggers at the man attempting to flirt with you. “Get a damn move on.” He stated angrily. Gavin rolled his eyes before turning around and making his way back to his desk. You plopped back into your seat, sighing. “You gonna be okay, kiddo?” Hank asked, rubbing your shoulder lightly. Resting your head in your hands, you nodded. “Yeah, Uncle Hank. I’ll live.” With a comforting pat, he nodded at you. Even though you didn’t see it, he knew you understood. “Jeffrey said you would be on standby, so call if you find anything interesting and be available for a call. Be safe, kiddo. Call if you need anything .” With a final glare to Reed, Hank and the android left the office.
~
Hours upon hours had passed and you were still at the office waiting for your Uncle and his brand new companion to come back. It was now a little over 9 at night, meaning the pair had been gone for over 4 hours. You were wearing Hank’s headphones, blasting Knights of the Black Death, one of your favorite bands. You were leaning back in your chair with your feet propped up on the edge of the desk, tossing a crumpled piece of paper up and down. You stared at the ceiling watching the ball move up and down, sighing quietly. Out of nowhere, Hank’s face was suddenly above you and you yelled. “Agh, Jesus!” You would’ve tumbled out of the chair if he hadn’t had his hands on the chair’s back. Hank let out a loud guffaw at your reaction, “Now we’re even.”
He said before walking in front of you. With your heart still racing, you groaned in annoyance. Sitting up, Hank cut you off before you query about the case. He held up a hand, “Hang on, I already know what you’re gonna ask. I have to go fill in Fowler, so why don’t you just come in too so you can hear the explanation? I’d rather not tell the same story twice.” You hopped out of your chair faster than your uncle could even blink. You placed the headphones back down on his desk, the music still playing as you both walked to your Captain’s office. While you and your uncle were with Fowler, you were completely oblivious to the android poking around both you and your uncle’s desks. Connor saw the headphones and thought to himself, What better way to get to know Hank than seeing what music he likes? The android slipped the headphones over his ears and heard heavy metal blasting. He took a moment to analyze the music and figured out the name of the music playing. He also scanned his chair, seeing dog hairs all over the back of the chairs. Another mental note made . Connor heard the smallest shift of weight and immediately knew that both of you were coming out and he placed the headphones down, awkwardly sitting next to Hank’s desk. Hank gave Connor a weird look then looked back at you, Connor then stood up and approached the older man. “Where could I sit and organize myself?” He groaned and rolled his eyes, shrugging him off. He gestured blindly at the desk behind his, “You can take the empty desk behind mine.” Connor nodded and did exactly that.
Hank sat at his desk and began to open the files you’d forwarded to him. Noticing from his earlier scan of his desk, Connor began to question Hank, “What’s your dog’s name?” Both you and Hank looked at Connor, slightly alarmed. “How’d you know I had a-? Nevermind.” He trailed off, not noticing Connor was still expecting an answer. Hank sighed, “Sumo. I call him Sumo.” Connor smiled and you shook your head in disbelief as you muttered, “Creepy.” under your breath. “Detective, know that my hearing is very good. I can hear your heartbeat from over here.” It told you, scaring you slightly. You said nothing and sighed to yourself, shaking your head. The android turned its attention back to the Lieutenant, “Do you listen to Knights of the Black Death? I really like that music. It’s…full of energy.” Once again, both of your heads shot up.Hank took the words directly out of your mouth, “You listen to heavy metal?” You leaned forward on your palm, intrigued. How’d it know to specifically ask about that band? Was he snooping around? Was he planning something sinister?
Whatever the answer was, you wanted to see the android attempt to get itself out of the situation it had gotten itself into. You almost laughed at its answer, “I don’t really listen to music, as such… but I’d like to.” While Hank gave him a look, you stood up and walked next to him, leaning on the back of his chair. You listened to the music I left playing on his desk, didn’t you, Connor? You thought to yourself.
Maybe Hank working with an android will be interesting

Summary: You and Leon have the worst dining experience of your life at your daughter’s “restaurant”
Pairing: Dad!Leon Kennedy x Mom!Reader
Word Count: 933 words
Warnings: Fluff, humor, Leon being a smart-ass
A/N: I bring you more Dad!Leon :) This was a short lil idea I had the other night. I am not going to lie, I personally suck at playing pretend with kids, so this may be unrealistic/stupid. But all in all, I hope you enjoy this lil drabble!! <3
“Do you have menus?”
Sitting cross-legged on the living room floor and parallel to you at the small Disney Princess table, Leon looked up expectantly at your three year old daughter. She stared him down, blue eyes mirroring his own before she turned around and walked over to the plastic kitchen playset.
You bit back a giggle, trying to be serious enough not to ruin her playtime and provide her with as much enrichment as possible, but it was nearing impossible considering the expression of surprise currently resting on Leon’s face.
“Guess it’s a surprise, then,” he chuckled, turning his head back to you with that lopsided smile of his. He placed his large hands on the table and began to drum his fingers, occasionally glancing over at the little girl rambunctiously pretending to cook. Leon focused on you, giving you a dramatic wink as he propped his elbow up on the small pink table. “So,” he started, voice tinged with flirt. “Come here often?”
A smile tugged at your lips as you rolled your eyes, mimicking his position while you rested your chin in your palm. “Actually, it’s my first time here,” you played along, giggling at the way he nodded and leaned back.
“Mine too,” Leon hummed, looking back over at the daughter you two shared. He huffed and rested his hand against his face to block his words from her ears. “Can’t say that I’m particularly impressed with the customer service, though.”
You turned your head towards the playset, raising an eyebrow as you watched your daughter fiddle with tiny metal pans and plastic food. “Be nice,” you laughed softly, a mock expression of scolding on your face when you turned back towards him. “She’s got a one woman show going on over there.”
Your daughter had insisted that her father and you ate at her “restaunt”, even going as far as throwing a tantrum until both you and Leon were seated around the little table tucked away in the corner of the living room. Watching her play and have fun, especially now that Leon was home and able to join in, brought a smile to your face that couldn’t be erased. Even with the abundant witty comments being whispered to you every twenty seconds.
“Oh my god,” Leon suddenly mumbled, eyebrows pinched together in surprise and slight concern as he stared at the toddler. “She’s using Barbie to cook.”
You hadn’t noticed until now, but your little girl definitely was using her Barbie’s legs to stir whatever imaginary food she had in the plastic cooking pot. You let your jaw drop open before you leaned closer over the table, whispering back to Leon. “Maybe we should call the health inspector?”
Leon nodded in agreement, stifling a chuckle when your daughter looked back at the two of you. You both scrambled to get back into the playing state of mind, smiling at her until she turned back around and continued on.
She eventually ceased stirring, grabbing the play plates and arranging various toys on them before she brought them over to the table. The plate handed to Leon consisted of a fake can of peas, a plastic drumstick, a rock, and a spoon. The plate handed to you, however, only held one thing: a plastic banana. She set them down in front of each of you, eyes expectantly watching for the two of you to start eating.
Leon laughed under his breath as he looked down at his pink plate compared to your nearly-empty purple plate, once again covering his mouth with his hand. “Guess we know who the favorite is,” he teased softly, deep blue eyes flitting up to yours.
You rolled your eyes once more, waving him off before you looked over at your daughter. “It looks great, baby,” you praised her softly, smiling as you watched her face light up. You pretended to eat, doing everything that you could to keep from laughing as you watched Leon struggle to play along across from you.
After about thirty seconds of watching him make exaggerated bites into the plastic chicken drumstick, your daughter snatched the plate away from him and took yours, too. When she got back to her little kitchen, Leon had to put his head down on the table.
You could hear the muffled laughter as he crossed his arms, clearly surprised with how forceful she’d been about taking the plates away. He lifted his head back up, smiling fondly as he looked back in her direction. “I guess I was done.”
“You didn’t compliment the chef,” you clicked your tongue with a playful grin. The child continued to make a ruckus of noise in the kitchen, prompting you to try and engage her. “Are you making dessert?”
“No,” her favorite word immediately came flying from her mouth as she shook her head.
Leon feigned a gasp, putting a hand over his chest like he’d just been wounded. “But, sweetheart,” he mustered every ounce of playful disappointment into his voice. “Daddy and mommy always have dessert after dinner.”
Your daughter shook her head again and proceeded to ignore the two of you as she started to play on her own.
Leon made a face at her turned back before he shook his own head. It was no wonder where she got her attitude from. “I’m not leaving a tip,” he huffed, leaning back on his palms with another mock look of disdain.
You laughed softly before you got up, stretching out your arms and legs. “Alright,” you sighed, moving to pick your child up from behind. “Bath time, little lady.”
I love you Lipgloss, thank you
Shoutout to 💭 anon for that casual re4r Leon look for stepbro Leon!!
Like ugghh, that bit of forearm that he shows off makes me go insane.
And he's very much a tease too, like 💭 anon said.
"Princess, why are you staring at me so much?" He asks when he literally knows why. He KNOWS what his arms do to us.
Flexing his arms doing casual things whenever he can because you're around and just wants to tease the living hell out of you.
And I remember reading this one fic where your grind on Leon's biceps and ughhhh I can't find it😔
But he'd definitely tell you "If you like my arms so much, why don't you just fuck them, hm?" or something along the lines like that.
And he doesn't fuck you stupid until you cum on his arms (which, let's be honest, probably not take that long).
"Aw, who knew I had such a slutty princess all to myself? So needy that she's willing to grind my arms."
"Bet you'd want your big brother to choke you with his biceps. Right, princess?"
Ughhh I'm so stuck on him calling me princess. No matter the situation. It's that mix of degradation and praise that makes me head spin like crazy 🤭
HAVE A GOOD DAY LIP GLOSS! *explodes*
Klee 😩 how you gonna drop this beautiful bombshell into my inbox 😫
And also if you ever find that fic about Leon’s biceps lemme know 👀
*giggling and kicks my feet*
This is so good !! Leon is so sweet I can't 😭😭
Pairing: RE2Barista!Leon x GN!Reader
Summary: You hate coffee. Of course with your luck, you end up falling in love with a cute blushing barista.
Warnings: COFFEE SHOP AU, SUPER FLUFF, blushing leon, tooth-rotting fanfic, reader DOES NOT like coffee (i could never), reader/leon are clueless and shy, sabrina and gabriel are names used in this fic, image taken from google
Author's Notes: hey, im back (sorta?kinda?). i had this fanfic saved for a while and since i haven't been able to produce new material, i decided to edit and post some of my old drafts. i plan on posting the other coffee shop au - nsfw version, but from now i hope you enjoy reading this one!
If someone told you before that you would visit a coffee shop and actually order the same cup of coffee every day, you would laugh at their faces. You don't like coffee, period. There is something about the smell or taste you just don't like it. Warm, cold, sweet, unsweet, with chocolate, you tried it all. It just isn't your thing, which made some people look at you as an E.T. sometimes, but hey, to each its own, right?
Your co-worker Sabrina is the one who invites you out to a popular coffee shop nearby your work. Before you even attempt to say no, Sabrina explains that yes, there were other drink options and some delicious pastries, like "some of the best brownies" she had eaten her entire life.
So you agree, with the promise you wouldn't regret it.
There is no line when you enter, around 5 pm. You pass this coffee shop often going to work, the smell strong in your nose if the door is open. You never entered, of course, but now inside, you must admit it looked cozy. A lot of natural light comes from the big windows in the front, illuminating the entire space. There are tables and chairs, at this time empty, compared to how full and hectic they could get in the morning.
As Sabrina orders her long order, your eyes wander the menu, written behind the counter on a giant blackboard. They had other options, as Sabrina explained before, such as handmade Italian sodas and some juices. When Sabrina is done, you turn your attention to the very attractive cashier. The kind you see on the cover of magazines, like a model or something. And cute. He has innocent blue eyes, a soft face, and blonde hair under the black cap. Your eyes glimpse at his name tag, "Leon," as he waits for your order.
"What do you want?"
And the words come out of your mouth before you can even think, something you would never have ordered in a million years.
"A coffee?"
You can feel Sabrina's neck twist, shocked. You ignore her, ignore how your voice went two higher tones than it should, focused on Leon, who continues smiling, patiently waiting for the rest.
"Sure, which one?"
"Coffee?" Your eyes roam around the many, many names and sizes as if you know what all those names mean, and you decide to risk it all. "How about your favorite order?"
Leon's eyes widen briefly before a faint red tone rises to his cheeks. He chuckles, surprised, before placing the order on the computer.
"Right, okay then, my favorite order. Anything else?"
"Nothing, that will be it."
You pay your bill without looking up. Sabrina looks semi-concerned and amused when you are done ordering, a strange smile on her face.
"Are you okay?"
"I panicked," You whisper, hoping Leon can't hear the panic in your voice as you pull her to a table before she can start asking more questions.
You sit to wait for your order, and you notice Leon and another young blonde lady behind the counter. He seems to be blushing about something she says, and you wonder if that wasn't the most adorable thing you've ever seen.
"You are staring," Sabrina warns, her voice denoting humor. Why does it sound like Sabrina is having fun with your misery? You look out the window to the traffic slowing down since it is the end of the afternoon. When your order finally arrives, you turn excited, expecting to see Leon but being greeted by Ashley's happy face.
"Enjoy!" Ashley exclaims before leaving. You grab your small cup of warm coffee with a top layer of foam on it. It smells like cinnamon and vanilla. You really, really don't want to drink it.
"Careful now, Leon is watching," Sabrina teases, making you turn to look for Leon. He is indeed staring at you, his blue eyes filled with expectation. When he catches you looking, he turns his face away, a deep blush on his cheeks, too focused on cleaning something behind him.
"I can do this." You tell yourself, taking a sip from the cup. Yeap, still bad. Still bad as the first time you tried it. You drink another small sip because Leon could still be watching before placing the cup on the table. "I don't think I can do this." You confess in a whisper to Sabrina, who doesn't answer. She giggles, drinking her coffee as water. She saves you the dignity to not tease you anymore, at least.
Noticing she wouldn't be any help, you take small sips while listening to Sabrina's news. It was easier to drink while she talked so that you could ignore the sour taste in your mouth.
When your cup is finally empty, you sigh in relief. You have done it. You are NOT disappointing any cute blushy barista today. Leon appears at the side of the table, eyes filled with expectation.
"How was it?"
"It was so good. My friend over here loved it, right? Right?" Sabrina smiles happily in your direction. You want to strangle her, but you nod, smirking instead.
"Perfect, Leon. Thank you."
Leon's eyes lock on you, and you stare back, starstruck. No one should be allowed to be this charming. His smile lights up his entire face, making him look even more special. The type you could fall in love with if you aren't careful enough.
"I will get those for you, then," He cleans the table, then leaves, nodding in your direction. When he is out of a safe distance, Sabrina sings low.
"I think he likes you!"
"Shut up, Sabrina!"
-x-
After that, you start to visit the coffee. Daily. You get to meet the rest of the employees: Luis, a handsome man with a captivating smile who constantly flirts with you. You already know Ashley, a young college student who is always excited to see you. And well, there is Leon. It is odd how you click so fast with Luis and Ashley; you could joke with them as much as you wanted, but things worked a little differently when it came to Leon. He made you nervous.
He always welcomes you with a warm smile and treats you with respect. You tried to tease Leon once, but it died in your throat when you watched his expression. He just looked so innocent, you just didn't want him to dislike something you did or said. What if he misinterpreted?
You also continue ordering the same coffee. Your newfound trick to not throw it away? Take it to work and give it to Sabrina. You know you are wasting money, but Leon's smile is worth every cent, especially when you place the money on the counter for "Leon's order". Like one morning, two weeks after your first visit, you enter the shop, and it is Luis at the register.
"Hello, pretty thing. Same order?" Luis asks, winking.
"You know me, Luis, I am loyal."
"Yeah, yeah, I know," Luis sighs, pretending to be disappointed. Ashley waves in your direction when she sees you, asking. "Let me guess, another Leon's order to go?"
"You know, it is my dream. One of those days, you will enter those doors and ask 'Can I get Luis's order or maybe Ashley's?" Luis teases, "No, it must always be Leon's order. I have started to wonder why."
"I like his coffee," You whisper in your defense. Luis smiles, knowing exactly what you like. He points to Leon's back, too focused on a coffee maker. "Your boyfriend is waiting."
You show off your tongue, rolling your eyes and going toward Leon. He guides a cup of steaming milk into a to-go cup, almost as if he is drawing. You don't say anything, watching his concentrated face as he finishes. Every inch of his attention to whatever he is drawing. When Leon is done, he turns toward you, opening a smile.
"H-hey. Here it is."
He puts the to-go cup in front of you, uncovered. You find it weird but don't discuss it.
"Morning. Thank you. My favorite, as always." You grab a lid nearby, closing it. Leon seems disappointed but doesn't say anything. You quickly take a sip, holding back a scowl. "Perfect as always, Leon. Thank you. I don't even know where I would be without Leon's every morning... Leon's order, I mean!"
The frown is gone, and Leon smiles timidly, blushing. Of course, you must embarrass yourself in front of him, but honestly, you don't mind. Your mornings always got much better after seeing his smile. You leave the coffee, waving bye to Ashley and Luis. When you are gone, Ashley and Luis surround Leon, too curious.
"Did they see it this time?" Luis wonders.
"No."
"Such a nice person, but so clueless," Ashley sighs, holding her chin. "Maybe you should just try writing your phone number on the cup, it would be more direct."
"Or maybe they don't like me that much..." Leon declares, making his co-workers groan.
"Not this again, Leon."
-x-
Three weeks pass like that. You go in, say hi to Ashley and Luis, get your coffee with Leon, smile at each other, and leave for work. There is some teasing here and there from Ashley and Luis, you tease back, and that is it. You wonder if you should get a different order, but Sabrina seems happy enough with the coffee, you are happy enough to see Leon, so it works.
The next morning, you enter the café to find Ashley organizing a casket of brownies. After greeting each other, you grab one from the basket. So those were the limited edition brownies Sabrina always talked about.
"Hey, Ashley, are those the famous delicious brownies?"
"Yeah. Made by an extraordinary chef, but I can't reveal his identity. It is top secret."
"Can I get one? And also a Le-"
"Leon's order? Yes, yes, I know," She groans, sounding tired. Leon appears from the back office, opening his usual smile when he sees you. You like to think it is your special smile, but it is probably how he smiles at every single client.
"Hey."
"Morning, Leon."
He starts preparing your drink the way he always does. You wonder if Leon is bored or if he can even make it with his eyes closed. Maybe you should ask him if his favorite order has even changed next time? As you watch Leon work, you give a big bite to the brownie. It is delicious. The perfect balance between chocolate and sweetness.
"Ashley, those are so freaking good!" You exclaim, bringing her attention back to you.
"Oh really? Our chef will love to hear that!" Ashley says with a suggestive tone, giving a quick side look to Leon. You finish the brownie in a few bites as Leon puts your cup on the counter, his cheeks painted red. Again your cup is uncovered. You grab the lid and close it. It has become a ritual by now.
"Thanks again, Leon."
When you look up at him, Leon has a different expression in his eyes. He blushes, no more than he usually does, his hand raised. Before you can ask what is wrong, he places his hand over yours on the cup lid. His hand is warm, probably normal for someone working with hot drinks all the time. You don't say anything, waiting. Leon seems to be waiting as well, for you to say anything. Neither of you does, and the moment is broken when the door opens, a huge group of women coming in.
"Sorry, I don't know—"
"Bye!" You rush out of those doors, not looking back.
Well, that was certainly odd, you think. Leon has never touched you before. It seems that he wanted to tell you something, but at the same time, he was waiting for you to say something? When you get to work ten minutes later, the cup still warm in your hands, you search for Sabrina, not finding her. Gabriel, your other co-worker, explains she is sick.
"Really?"
"Yeah. Nasty flu."
"Oh, okay. I will message her later then."
You look at the cup in your hands to her empty table before asking Gabriel.
"Hey, do you want some coffee?"
"Free? Don't mind if I do! What has on it?"
"I guess coffee, milk, cinnamon? I don't really know."
"You don't know?" Gabriel asks, grabbing the cup from you. "You don't know what is in your cup? Here, let me smell it, I have an excellent sense of smell." He opens the lid to smell it and exclaims, "Awn, this is cute."
"What?"
"The heart."
"What heart?"
Gabriel carefully gets the cup to show you a heart drawing on top. You want to hit yourself in the head; is that what Leon has been doing? That's why he held your hand this morning to show the heart? No, it couldn't be. When Gabriel starts taking the cup to his mouth, you pull the cup back, placing the lid.
"Sorry, Gabriel, gotta go! I will return with another one!"
You rush back to the store, holding the cup firmly. Maybe, just maybe, Leon has been drawing those for you only, and you always close the lid? Maybe this is what he was trying to tell you this morning. What if Leon draws a heart for everyone? Shouldn't you be paying for that? What if—? No, no time to think of that. Perhaps this is your chance. You enter the shop, gasping for air. Ashley is nowhere around, and Leon is dusting around the table. When he sees you, his brows furrow, but he doesn't hesitate to get close to you.
"Are you okay? Something wrong?" Leon sounds concerned, his eyes scanning you.
You try to speak, still catching your breath. You pull the lid, triumphant.
"What does this mean?"
When you two look at the cup, the drawing is gone. There is just a mess of brown liquid, smelling like vanilla and cinnamon. You can't believe it. You turn to Leon, pointing at the cup and him, your mouth opening and closing.
"Have you been drawing hearts in my cup this whole time?"
"I have." He admits, blushing.
"Thanks?" Jeez, you couldn't come with something better. Leon nods as if understanding before starting to turn away. "No, wait, please, I mean, I like them. A lot."
His face lights up, and you wonder how someone can look so adorable. It is so unfair for you poor heart.
"Tha-that's good, then. I was wondering when you would see them."
"Well, 'cause the lady who drinks my coffee doesn't open the cups!" You try to explain to him, biting your tongue. Leon waits, confused. "Yeah, I don't like coffee," You finally confess your secret somberly, like a sinner talking to a priest.
"So wait. You don't like coffee and keep ordering it? Why?"
Well, now it is your turn to feel your face burning. Realization passes through Leon's face, and he starts stuttering something before three older ladies walk in, going directly to the cashier. He grabs your cup, his heart thumping as he rushes to write something. When Leon gives you back, you see his number written in black ink.
"Ca-can we discuss this better later tonight? If you want to, of course," Leon asks. You nod. "Then you can tell me all about your hate for coffee."
"I would love to."
