okay okay okay - hear me out
Xue Yang as Light
A-Qing as Sayu
Song Lan as Soichirou (Xiao Xingchen ???)
but instead of the Death Note anime ... it's the musical, just think about it
Using this since it's my general theater blog as well but PSA videos using the 2014 Death Note musical demos have started being taken down from YouTube.
Including DraculaHyde, who was one of the first people to get videos up when the full album was leaked in 2017. At the moment, LyricNear hasn't had any issues, and possibly the act of making lyrics for the videos is enough to consider them transformative and not get taken down.
The timing is pretty clear though. They're preparing to release the new 2023 London album and they don't want the 2014 demo drawing away focus. Still pretty shitty if you ask me, DraculaHyde's videos have been up for seven years now and they just now decide to take them down.
Just in case, I've started putting things on archive. I wish I still had TFAllen's full zip folder of all their saved materials, cursing 2017 me for not saving things properly.
the death note musical is SOOO fun because it presents a universe were Lights sister genuinely could be more insane than him. She's cannonically a misa (the artist) fan and so IS A POP GIRLIE FAN! have you seen how insane Nicki Minaj or taylor swift fans are???? This is no hate to their fans at all, but also, a Misa fan girl would 100% be like pop girlie fans but WORSE. and thats the universe we deserve most honestly. Like lights plans are so boring but you know who's plans are fun? Sayu who is currently planning to sell her parents matress to pay for plane tickets to go see a Misa concert.
Fellas is it gay to look through his eyes and see what he sees till you see the forest not just the trees and mimic his will and learn his routines and feel the same thrill and know what it means and walk in his shoes as long as it takes and
If I had a nickel for every time Jeremy Jordan played a tragic character that started wanting to change society for the better and tried to be revolutionist, but fell too far,
Had a villain arc derived from their oppression, ended up making deals with bad people to solve their problems creating more damage they were against in the past, lost their mental health in the process,
And it was a musical-
I would have 3 nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened 3 times.
