To be honest, this helps with sewing and designing clothes. It gives a point of reference for what you want.
i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping
I needed a small confidence boost and making outfits is one of my favorite specialties!
I might sew some of these, but my body isn’t fit for most of them and I’m not really comfortable with it right now, so this are just really fun for me!
Remember you will always be appreciated by people you’ve known. They might’ve only met you once, but that little moment can be the reason why they’re still here or the reason they love to see you each day, even if they don’t talk to you.

Pure Vessel
After picking up a new hobby (sewing), I decided to sew the Pure Vessel as a birthday gift for my little sister (her favorite character). Got a little carried away with the details. But very happy with a result. Will be giving my little sister her gift this weekend.
He can be so cruel
I love sewing because you really feel blessed by like the gods of creativity until you get 1% eepy sleepy and then the devil starts telling you that you can eyeball and freehand very essential steps
Damn… need to get my hands on some velvet asap

Whenever I go to buy fabric I fell like I’m going to a drug dealer or something, cause the entrance to the store is behind a car service and looks like that
Spent two days hand sewing an accurate zhuyao only to give up trying to make it close properly and putting a zipper at the side
Does anyone who has access to Chinese websites could help me find a pattern for a warring states period hanfu? I would really appreciate it <3 <3 <3

It’s 100% silk, lightweight but quite stiff
Had a free day and planned to do some sewing but ended up just sleeping for 15 hours and then scrolling through tumblr
Fr, learn to sew. It also helps to reduce your wardrobe only to garments that you absolutely love 💕
Let sewing radicalize you against fast fashion
So I’m planning on sewing a hanfu, but I don’t know which type of upper body undergarment should I chose. Could somebody with some hanfu wearing experience advise me on which one of those shirts are most comfortable to wear with large chest?
Does anyone know where can I get some pretty silk to make a Ming dynasty ma mian qun? I can only find polyester fabrics online with fitting pattern. Thank you in advance 💖💖💖
I made a spider plush a bit ago. Here is the process.
I began by cutting out the main body and applying the eyes.
After the eyes were attached, I went ahead and stitched the body together with holes for the palps, chalicerae, and legs. Then, I started on making the legs.
Once the legs were made and applied, I moved on to making the chalicerae and palps.
Then I applied the palps, made the opisthosoma, then stuffed and stitched it together.
His name is Shamiek. I named him after the voice actor for Miles Morales in Spiderverse. This is to stick with the theme of naming my spiders after Spiderman actors.
It is unpleasant
My sewing machine broke today
I am once again reminded I am not a tinker fairy
FYI to sick or disabled folks and those who assist or care for them: Simplicity patterns has a new line of adaptive sewing patterns. Designs include tops with port access, clothing with velcro closures, bags and cushions for mobility aids, bibs, chemo hats, and more.
I’m excited about these because they are the first patterns of this kind I’ve seen anywhere. And Simplicity patterns are great for beginning sewists, with very clear step by step instructions and illustrations.
Patterns can be purchased here: https://simplicity.com/simplicity/adaptive/

I am on my way to being the best auntie ever or the worst sister-in-law that ever lived. Possibly both.
I am making my 2-year-old niece a plushy for her birthday. She is very hands-on baby and wants to help with everything and be involved in the center of attention. A few weeks after her birthday everyone is going dipnetting. She is two and can not help with dip netting or do anything but watch.
So I am making her a toy salmon. And I am making it so she can filet it. It has guts. It has bones. It is all one piece and child friendly, and I am debating using embedded magnets or velcro to hold the filets on.
She has a kitchen set with a little wooden knife at her grandparents house, who have already heard about this and think its a great idea. We are gonna teach this kid to clean and process fish. She already knows where meat comes from and she will want to get in and do what everyone else is doing which she can not do because the fish are only slightly smaller than she is.
So, salmon plushy

Have y'all tried embroidery?
It's very therapeutic, and you get...
A Butterfly!
A Small Tortoiseshell to brighten the day.
My next sewing project is to try and make something similar to this, using the template I found on google images 😂 wish me luck 😭
Starting it next Monday with some embroidery! ❤️
I have made the outline and done a plan but it could all go wrong so join me on this adventure ✨
day 5 of quarantine, I’ve run out of fabric and have had to resort to cross stitching this old strainer. Turned out pretty good I think! by Skittle_kittle
Somehow there are still way too many people who think a tailor is someone who makes clothes for men (or worse, just a male clothing-maker). Tailoring is a specific trade with a specific set of techniques—historically, the difference has less to do with gender than it does to do with flat-drafting vs. draping methods of pattern-making and fitting. Tailor is not the male version of seamstress, it is gender-neutral and it refers to its own history (and seamstressing/mantua making is ALSO a trade with its own techniques and history fwiw)
Finished! A sad Maglor by the beach 🦀
